About us
English Opera Singers, a professional opera company, was created in 2008 as a platform for up-and-coming opera singers with bigger voices suited for grand opera.
The company present grand opera in concert at St James's Piccadilly, in the heart of London's West End .
We feel that the opportunities for singers at the early stages of their career to perform in the heavier repertoire are very limited,
as the British operatic scene seems to focus predominately
on Gilbert & Sullivan, Handel and Mozart.
We are planning to present two operas a year, and have chosen
St James's church because it is renowned as an international venue for classical music.
The inaugural production by English Opera Singers was Il trovatore, whose success will be followed with our concert performance of verdi's Macbeth in October 2009.
